From A Generation Z Footprint

Digital footprints are marks and trails that we leave as we use the internet. We create them through online actions and activities that reflect the kind of person we are, because as the saying goes, “Everything that we say and do portrays an image of ourselves”.

I myself, as part of Generation Z, have digital footprints – I contribute to the growing portrait of mine online. There are several ways, in which I do. This includes social media sites, apps, and devices. These are the means for me to share, to get information, and to communicate. Though having control over them, I make sure that what I say within the 140 character limit and for the “what’s on my mind?” is something worth the read. In fact, digital footprints are permanent and users have little control over how it will be used by others, even if it has been deleted. That is why I believe that our digital footprints matter. A positive digital reputation is important for us to develop because what we say and do online are impressions that we leave behind, thus, can have big consequences. Through the advanced tracking mechanisms of today, college admission officers and companies can use our digital footprints as a source to track down our background and to have a better view of ourselves.

Part of my savoir-faire practice is to use the internet and devices with delicacy and integrity, because I believe that my digital footprints has an effect on the opportunities that life has to offer and that the future promises.

Meeting SGWannaB

“‎Love is seeing an imperfect person perfectly.. and he is far from being perfect. But there’s something about him that captivates my heart. What’s so good about him anyway? Is it his radiant smile? His charisma? Maybe it’s his attractive face? I don’t know. But..I’m falling.. hard.”

At least, that’s what the author of She’s Dating the Gangster, Bianca Bernardino, wants us to believe. She’s Dating the Gangster is an exemplar of one of the best pop-fiction novels – it has reaped the hearts of teenagers and it has left them with a kilig feeling.

Fortunately, we were able to meet and greet the author – the one behind all the witty words and romantic-comedy scenarios of the novel. Bianca Bernardino is a young professional who is very passionate, hardworking, talented, and yet humble. And if there is one thing that I learned from her, it is to put a little piece of ourselves in the things that we love to do.

How far do you agree on these advertisements? Because the truth is, these are all false, misleading, or unproven information that is used to the advantage of one’s business and sales.

Advertising is one of the media to attract consumers and to inform them regarding a product. There are multiple ways in which this can be done: visual, audio, audiovisual, etc. And in one way or another, it deceives people. With the upsurge of technological advancements, it is now a lot more difficult to identify which advertisement claims are true or not.

Advertisements are a powerful media. It is important that consumers are responsible enough to ponder on the products they will buy and use. At the same time, businesses must have the integrity. They should take consideration that their product’s quality and reliability is what truly matters.

Enlightenment Through the ICT

Enlightenment Through the ICT

Media and information literacy is important in the rapid growth of media and ICTs. It sees media and information literacy as vital to the empowerment of people. ICTs in education and equitable access to information knowledge” – UNESCO

In light of globalization and the growing force of technological advancements particularly of the ICTs, it is essential that everyone hold media and information literacy. This enables people to use, analyze, evaluate, interpret, and make logical judgments as users of information and media, as well as to become responsible and intellectual producers of information and media. In a digital world, media and information literacy is a basic human right and a great equalizer – it provides us the freedom of expression and the access to information. With information literacy, comes the ability to become effective users and producers of media and information. With media literacy, comes the competencies necessary to engage with traditional media and new technologies.

The rise of mass media and new technologies has brought about significant changes in our society and sometimes it has directed us to the proliferation of false beliefs and misleading facts. In response to this, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), aims to contribute peace and security in the world by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science, culture and communication. The media can be an instrument of this realization only if we, as users and producers, hold media and information literacy in our daily lives.

Don’t Quit

Don’t Quit

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,

It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up,

When he might have captured the victor’s cup,

And he learned too late when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Life, as we know, is not just about rainbows and sunshine – it is also filled with clouds and rain. It is not surprising and strange that we encounter ups and downs in life especially in our journey to finding ourselves and searching for our passions.

Sometimes life makes us also feel as if the road we’re taking has been a long and winding one, leading us to nowhere but to farther places from our destination. But it is through these moments that we must continue because it is when we are lost that we discover ourselves. Sometimes we experience endless defeats and bitter failures. But it is during these times that we should persist because no one else knows how close we are to reaching our goals, and by giving up means having no place forward – no chances of succeeding. Sometimes we feel tired, weary, and depressed. But it is through these days that we should never stop because victory and success are so much sweeter after a series of hardship.

As we struggle amidst difficulties, problems, and challenging events in life, we sometimes get enthralled by the thoughts of giving up. But that is a shallow and weak choice to take – it brings us to more dreadful consequences. Though it may seem too slow, carrying on and giving a little more will take us to a possibility of surmounting it all.

More often than not, people who have given up regret the chances they didn’t take and the paths they didn’t keep; because then he realizes that he could have gotten the prize.  If we fail, lose, fail, lose, fail, and then quit, life will just press us down to lower heights. But if we try harder and continue, try harder and continue, it heightens our possibilities to higher places in life.

Life is a constant means for us to learn. We best learn from our mistakes, miseries, difficulties, failures, and misfortunes. Although it drags us down to our limits, making us feel uncertain and doubtful of ourselves, we have to keep in mind that these are all temporary states taking us to something or some place better – encouraging us to rest for sometime and then to go beyond stronger than ever. That is why when we are faced by these adversaries, we must take on the challenge and never ever quit.
