It has been more than a century old, and the ancestral house is still standing in grandeur and solidity despite some damages brought by the World War II.
The architectural design of Casa de Segunda is the typical ‘bahay na bato’. It is Spanish in nature, wherein ample supply of air enter the window capiz’s, wherein balusters surround the Azotea, wherein its ceilings are high, wherein floorings are made of thick and varnished Narra planks, and wherein there is a wide staircase leading to a spacious living room.
Aside from our not-so-distant experience in antiquity, it also took us just a rope and a bell to relive a piece of history about the love that could’ve been. Beyond the gates of this ancestral house, lived Segunda Katigbak – Jose Rizal’s primera amor.
